Ven Pongal
Ingredients
- Raw Rice - 200 gms
- Moong dal - 50 gms
- Salt as u wish
- Fried Cashew for garnishing
For Seasoning
- Mustard - 1/2 tsp
- Asafoetida - 1/2 tsp
- Black Pepper - 1 tsp
- Cumin - 1/2 tsp
- Red Chillies - 2 in number
- Ginger pieces cut into thin stripes
- Curry Leaves
- No Oil , only 3 tbsp of Ghee
Method
- Roast the moong dal with little ghee till golden brown
- Wash the raw rice, add fried dal
- Water as required - for a measurement of rice-dal mix, add 3 measurements of water
- Add salt
- Let it half cook
- Then keep kadai on the stove and pour ghee
- Add the seasoning things
- Let the mustard and pepper splutter
- Add to the rice and cook till rice fully cooked and mushy
- Garnish with cashews.....
- Have it for b'fast with coconut chutney...
